Philadelphia is America's fifth largest city with a population of 1.3 million people.  Each year on average, 1 out of every 50 people suffer an episode of homelessness. Families represent the fastest growing, most vulnerable homeless population. For 25 years, Trevor's Campaign has been making a difference by helping one person at a time. 

 

The Magnitude of the Problem


24,000 homeless annually

2000 families become homeless each year

121,000 Philadelphians on welfare

33% of shelter residents are children 

33% of homeless women are domestic violence victims

80% of homeless adults are school drop-outs

70% of homeless adults are substance abusers

1.7 million meals served/3000 homeless housed

1800 homeless secured permanent housing

480 homeless found gainful employment

1,500 homeless children helped to stay in school

400 homeless women assisted/protected from abuse

330 homeless adults obtained GED or high school diploma

750 homeless adults treated for addictions (65 recover rate)
